Charles Lamb (1775-1834) was an English essayist and poet, best known for his "Essays of Elia." His sister, Mary Lamb (1764-1847), was a writer and editor, famed for their collaborative work "Tales from Shakespeare," which adapted Shakespeare's plays for children.
